The goal of this optional hiking program is to regularly expose Scouts to the outdoors, introduce the concepts of map reading, practice “Leave No Trace”, instill respect for nature and the environment, demonstrate the fun and benefits of exercise, build a sense of team, and recognize their accomplishments.

A scout earns one mile credit for every mile hiked. The goal is for the Scouts to have fun while hiking. The hiking program will run year-round and will consist of monthly hikes usually held on a weekend.

Scouts can collect beads on a bead hanger to track how many hikes they have attended.
